Pain Relief

Blog fam! It’s been a few months, I pray all is well with you all. For me it’s been a trying few months but God is faithful nonetheless! How many of you have ever felt emotional pain? This could stem from the death of a loved one, failed relationship or just the trials of life in general. These things can be extremely difficult to overcome especially if we are just numbing the pain and not getting to the root of it. We often do things that we think will cast the pain away not knowing that we are only suppressing the issue or issues in some cases. We may have a drink to relax as we say or hit the blunt to take the edge off. In those moments we become free because of the effects of what we’ve ingested but what happens when it wears off? Our problems are still there and have come back with a vengeance to push us to the brink. This is one way people become dependent on drugs and alcohol. It numbs the pain of our circumstances. It offers a brief pause from the reality of what’s going on. This cocktail gives a false sense relief. Pretty soon we find ourselves drinking and smoking just to cope with different situations and we’ve become slaves to what once offered us relief. Drugs and alcohol may not be your escape. Some of us use relationships to find momentary peace. Others may cut themselves to control their pain. No matter what you use to numb your pain, you’re still a slave to it if you aren’t taking it to God. The Bible says in Philippians 4:6-7:

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus

This passage literally means do not worry about anything but take everything to God in prayer with the expectation that he’s going to move.  All we have to do is pray to God and he hears us. Not only does he hear us, but he takes action. God sends his peace to surround us and keep us through Christ Jesus. He does what the drugs, alcohol, failed relationships and cutting couldn’t do. God becomes our lasting peace. Instead of doing the things listed above, I can seek God and be assured lasting peace. I encourage you to try God. Allow God’s peace to restore and comfort you during times of struggle. Be easy blog fam!
