The drought is OVER

Blog fam! Happy New Year! I have a few topics on my mind but I’ll stick to this one for now. A drought is defined as a prolonged or chronic shortage or lack of something expected or desired. I live in Texas, so I know a thing or two about droughts and the condition they leave the land and people in. The flowers lose their brilliance, springs run dry and fires tend to start with the smallest spark. Like the Earth, we need the rain or provision God offers us. Without that provision, we become dried up skeletons of our former selves. During seasons of drought the simplest task become daunting. We lose the desire to go outside or even socialize because of the conditions around us. Lately I’ve observed drought-like conditions from the people of God. Because of adverse conditions we have lost our brilliance and become dull representations of the mighty God we serve. Depending on the severity of the drought, a certain amount of rain has to fall to end it. Scattered showers won’t end a three year drought! We cannot settle for a spiritual encounter with the Lord every four to six months and expect a major shift. We go to church to get a spiritual fix but have no intention on putting in the work to grow with Christ once we leave. Once God begins to move in our lives it’s up to us to continue to seek Him.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:8 says, “For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”

The ball is literally in your court. When we begin to ask God to fill us we will receive! When we push things away that aren’t like God and seek him, we will find Him! When we knock on His door with our prayers he will open himself to us! God, I come to you on behalf of my readers and myself. First, I thank you for being You! I ask that you condition our hearts to receive you. We give you permission to enter the dry places in our lives and rain. No longer will we settle for scattered showers. We will seek you God knowing that your water is the only thing that will quench the thirst of our dry souls. We believe it done in Jesus’ name. Amen. When you share this with your friends and family, let them know the drought is over! Be blessed peeps!

Will it ever END?!

Blog fam! I’ve heard many people say they’re ready for 2016 to be over for various reasons. People have made the statement that this has been the worst year of their life. I don’t have that testimony but I do have a thought I want to leave with you all before the year expires. In the third chapter of Daniel we run across the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. King Nebuchadnezzar in the beginning of the story made a golden image for the people to fall down and worship when they heard the music play. Word got back to the king that these three Hebrew boys refused to worship the golden image. Nebuchadnezzar had Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego brought before him and told them if they did not bow, he’d have them thrown into a burning fiery furnace.

“And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego.” Daniel‬ ‭3:20-22

This part of the story goes to my first point, the mighty men that threw Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego into the fire died! You have faced things this year that have caused others to die or lose their grip on reality as we know it but you’re STILL here!

‭‭ “And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” Daniel‬ ‭3:23-25

Sometimes when we are in our personal fiery furnaces we are bound and don’t necessarily know what’s coming next. The amazing part of feeling like this is realizing that we aren’t in the fire alone. Jesus will step into the fire with us and free us in the midst of our furnace!

‬“And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.” Daniel‬ ‭3:27

Though the fire is hot and suffocating at times you will come out unscathed! I cannot promise that 2017 will be a bed of roses but I can say if you keep God first you’ll never be alone! Happy New Year peeps!
