It’s Time to Rest

Blog fam! I pray all is well with each of you! This has been an interesting season of my life. Today, I began to allow my mind to wonder back. While doing this, I realized I have had to trust God with everything. Trust is defined as the firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. We often treat God like we treat our friends. We trust them with certain information but still leave some things covered. While this may be wise with some people, our relationship with God should not be that way. We find ourselves thriving in some areas while holding on for dear life in others because we have failed to simply trust God with everything. For me it has been easy to trust God with my finances because I know him to be a provider. On the other hand, when it came to everyday interactions I was rigid because I thought I knew best. It was at that moment when God let me know that if he could provide financially he could provide in every other area if I would simply trust him. In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus says to us,

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

All of the issues you’ve been carrying, the nights of tossing and turning and the heaviness that has burdened you down can all be taken away if you choose to give it to Jesus. There’s rest that no sleeping pill can give. There’s comfort that friendly advice can’t give you. Jesus is offering the ultimate exchange; take off what’s weighed you down and put him on. Learn and walk in His ways and you will get the rest you’ve desperately longed for.

God, we thank you for sending your son Jesus. We ask that you’d come in and tear down the walls we’ve built. Help us to understand that we can trust you with everything we go through. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
