Blog fam! As always, I pray you all have been blessed since my last post. I was listening to a podcast at work and heard an interesting story. This church used to have what they called open prayer requests. Anyone could stand up and ask the church to pray for them or their families. One guy gets up several weeks in a row and asks the congregation to pray that God would clear his mind of the cobwebs of sin. After a few weeks of hearing the same request, a member stood up and suggested that he ask God to kill the spider! I immediately heard the Lord say that we often want to kill the effects of sin but not the source. Like the man in the story, we like temporary fixes. We sweep away the outward manifestations of the sin and appear well groomed and put together while the cause of the sin is slowing spinning another web to entangle us again. It may be hard and down right painful to get to the source of the sin but it is necessary. God can’t heal what we hide and make excuses for. Galatians 5:1 tells us to,
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
Jesus has already fought the battle for us! We have to make the decision to stand in the liberty that he attained for us. Once we realize that we are fighting from victory it makes the press that much easier. Jesus did not die and rise for us to battle the same issues over and over. Once we have obtained our freedom, it’s up to us to walk in it! We cannot and should not want to go back to the things that had us bound.
Father, we just want to take time to thank you for the liberty we have in Jesus! We will no longer seek relief from the effects of sin. Instead, we are asking you to kill the source of it. No more temporary fixes. We want to be able to wholly serve you with no limits. Thank you for the revelation received today. Help us to apply the knowledge and seek you for more. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
Be blessed peeps!
Blog family, 2015 is coming to an end! It has been a great year I must say. When I look back over it, I can see God’s hand over my life. Faithful is the only way I can describe it. When things didn’t go my way and I strayed a way, God still kept me. I’m not big on resolutions but I can say things will be different in 2016. Hebrews 12:1 says,
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,”.
The thing I have been battling with is letting go. There are situations in our lives that are literally dead weight that we are struggling to hold on to and keep it together. These weights slowly cause us to sink and eventually drown if we don’t shake them off. It doesn’t make sense to hold on to things that cause you harm. Not all weights are sin, but if they aren’t dealt with they become sin. That sin puts a wedge between you and God. We are charged to run this race with patience. It’s much easier to run when you have dropped the dead weight of the past. Today, on New Year’s Eve, I dare you to drop everything that has been hindering and start the year fresh and free! God, we thank you for another year that you’ve kept us. We thank you for the experiences of this past year and the lessons they taught us. We ask that you draw is closer to you in 2016. Increase our desire to be where you are. Help us to lay aside every weight and sin that comes to separate us from you. In Jesus’ name, Amen! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I started blogging as a way to get things off my chest. Things I couldn’t necessarily say to people in conversation. So my notepad has become victim to all my thoughts and feelings. Have you ever looked at a situation in your personal life and thought how did I get here? Is this a bad dream that I have yet to wake up from? Where are the cameras?! My friends have to be playing a joke on me! Ok, you guys can yell cut at anytime now! Then you come to the realization that this practical joke is no joke at all; this has become your own episode of TrueLife. We, well I have made choices that have led to an unpleasant season of my life. I often wonder if I would’ve done anything different. I was blessed with an amazing gift, but since the gift was out of order, I am paying a price for it. I ask God for strength and I get the second wind I need. I can honestly say through this I have become much stronger! God has kept my mind when I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown. I heard God say that he would never leave me or forsake me. Choices literally shape our reality! Romans 6:23 says:
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Our sin(bad choices) will cause things to die, decay and fall apart. The wage we get when we are out of God’s will is death or separation from God. When we stay in the will and make positive choices we save ourselves from headaches etc lol but most importantly, we get the gift of eternal life. I had a totally different blog to post, but I felt God telling me to share this. I can’t stress enough how important our choices are! Be blessed and remember to choose Christ!
